Abstract:
Supplier compliance training has become a strategic necessity in regulated supply chains, where adherence to standards, laws, and ethical norms directly determines operational continuity, efficiency, and reputational performance. Industries such as pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive, food, and electronics operate under stringent regulatory regimes where supplier misconduct or non-compliance can jeopardize entire supply chains. Traditional supplier training programs have often been limited to basic orientation sessions or contractual obligations, leaving significant gaps in consistency, adaptability, and integration with evolving compliance frameworks. Recent scholarship emphasizes the importance of structured compliance training models, underpinned by behavioral insights, adult learning principles, and risk-based approaches. Equally, research highlights the role of technologye-learning platforms, digital compliance tracking, and simulation toolsin creating scalable, data-driven training systems. This paper conducts a literature-based review of compliance training within supplier networks, with a focus on enhancing program design for improved efficiency in regulated supply chains. By synthesizing historical practices, theoretical underpinnings, and empirical studies up to 2018, it provides a critical overview of best practices, methodological challenges, and future research directions. The findings indicate that effective compliance training not only reduces regulatory risks but also fosters a culture of accountability, transparency, and operational excellence across global supply chains.
